Time to cheer cause Friday is here! But since this month is my holiday, I guess I don't like the arrival of Friday because that means I have wasted another week of holiday working round the clock and it is another week closer to resuming work at 8 a.m. all over again. :'(

Today was a pretty normal and luxurious Friday for me cause I get to wake up at 12 p.m. for once before waking up and read through some admin stuff for business and left home at 2 to meet my cheeky little minx. It's always a tiring day with her filled with debates, runs and laughter.

So here's a photo of us <3
Had my standard tour round the 7-11 just downstairs their condo and found this on a promo of 2 for $2! Probably due to the fact that I am generally out of trend to new stuff, I found these pretty interesting and I was expecting it to be kinda like the ritter sport biscuit chocolate thing but it wasn't really similar (like duh $2 vs 1 for $3.90)

Here's my share of 2
Well. This is half of it. Usual chocolate with four pieces of biscuit that falls off easily
(I'm grabbing onto the falling one xD)
Just in a more than usual exploring mood so went down to Jurong to fetch my GF for movie and got a drink from Tea Tree Cafe. Got a Early grey tea with a scoop of ice cream as topping and they gave it to me in the '水研社' plastic bag if you ever heard of the bubble tea shop name before. So I guess this is the 水研社 store with a new shop name?

Level 1 of Jurong East Mrt station

Went on to catch Minion movie with phoebe and had a good laugh at how adorable the minions are and left off to MacDonald because Phoebe wanted some cinnamon melts. Which I was really thankful for her cravings cause I got to see how amazing MacDonald has become with all the minion theme stuff! OMG! I'm super not into trend but I am really a minion fan so yea, I can't express my joy and is so amazed by how everything is themed. Even the nugget box was minion?!

So, that was how my Friday went. Nothing special but yet super special for me with special people and special companies! Time to collect all the minion toys! YAY!

Night night peeps (:

KTM resort Batam review (Groupon)

As a stay cation for my June holidays, we picked the Groupon for KTM resort priced at $57 per pax for 2D1N. The Groupon price includes a one day guided shopping tour plus a seafood lunch and breakfast for the following morning. We extended one more night with the vendor, Seawheel Travel, at the price of $40 for a night inclusive of breakfast.

Will focus my review today on KTM resort first and will follow up with the places we went on the guided tour some other day when I am free :)

Me and my mum to welcome you first :D
Since me and mum have to work on weekend, we decided to travel on a Tuesday which pretty much explains how empty this place seems. This is their lobby which as you can see is clean and spacious.
Lobby of KTM resort
Upon check in at the reception area, they provided us with a complimentary welcome drink which was really helpful for this kind of hot weather and they gave us our first present at the resort which is the seashell necklace that you see. They politely hang it over your neck making you feel absolutely welcome in a comfortable manner. All the staffs are really friendly and awesome though I had some difficulty comprehending their English with their accent.

Upon arrival/check in
Right when you enter, this is the beautiful sight that you can expect to see. Clean seashore with some boats from afar and it just calms you down when you feel the sea breeze blowing upon your face and hears the sound of the waves hitting upon the shore.

The view that welcomes you
We got the Deluxe room and it isn't really very big but more than sufficient for two. The cottage room is quite near to one another and so we can easily hear ALL the conversation that is going on over at the room beside us. Thank god it was my friend that stays behind us or I thought it would be pretty scary if you do not know if it is even human talking at the other room to begin with.

The bed and pillow are soft, clean and absolutely comfortable. I would say that the lighting of the room is romantic and so not really good for photography unless you bring you whole reflector there. LOL.
Our bedroom
We love how this antic television looks but ours was spoilt cause the antenna came off so ya. But I saw my friend's room television which was good and the television can show some shows like channel U pretty clearly (comparing to ours with lines all over). I didn't had a photo of the bathroom but there isn't a bathtub and its just a pretty small but cosy one.

Sunset. Just down the road from our room.
Breakfast at KTM resort is wonderful too! You get to sit near the sea and enjoy the sea side view with some other friends like housefly and bees that will drop by from time to time to dine with you. Seats are well spread apart and area is sparkling clean.

They have a very decent spread of buffet for breakfast and you definitely would have something that you will enjoy eating. From fried rice, noodles. side dishes like baked beans and curry chicken, all kinds of kueh, FRESHLY MADE omelette and waffles (there is a chef standing there cooking for you), porridge, noodles, bread, sandwiches, cereals and so much more for you to choose from! (Refer to some photos below)

Of course, a trip to Batam equals to a trip to spa. So here we are to try their spa packages which I would say is slightly pricer than one that you would find in the malls but it is definitely a different experience!

They have all these rockers along the walk to the spa villa which was really pretty comfortable especially at night where you can just rest there and enjoy the sea breeze and have some heart to heart talk with your partner.

'rockers' or so I call it
Journey to the Spa Villa
They have around 5 or 7 rooms for massage (I can't remember) and from our sharing with one another, all the rooms have approximately the same stuff and design. We got the 1 h 50 mins Ocean View Spa which includes a 30 minutes Hydrotherapy Sensual Bath and a Full Body Aromatherapy Massage which costs Rp. 480, 000.

I had the massage with my girlfriend and the masseur was two ladies as well. They were profession and friendly and volunteered to help us take photos which I shall not disclose in respect to my friend's privacy. After the 30 minutes tub soak, we were served with a glass of ginger tea and also a glass of ice water before the full body massage began. We tipped them 5000 rupiah at the end which they rejected and so now I know, we were suppose to tip at least $2 SGD or equivalent.

The Bathtub
So dinner is of course at the resort's restaurant which is the same place where we have dinner at.
The food price is about 20,000 to 35,000 rupiah per dish while we had the crabs at 54,000 rupiah for 1 kg and the fish at 37,000 rupiah for 400g. Each serving size is really small so if you are a big eater, you may need to rethink about order the S and order the M size for each dish.

Le coconut
Garlic chicken (very dry but taste okays!)

Chili crab! We felt that the salted egg yolk one which we also ordered was better though

And so, we ended the 3 days trip with a visit to the temple just at the resort itself and thank it for blessing us over the 3 days and I didn't have any spooky encounter. (:

Conclusion:

It is a good place to visit if you are looking for somewhere that is away from the bustling city. From here to Nagoya Hill is a 30 minutes taxi ride and that is how far it is away from town. The staff are very friendly and alert to your needs. They are kind, gentle and funny people who will make your stay more enjoyable. They serve good breakfast and they have some slight changes on the dishes over the two days we had. Rooms are clean and tidy. So are their swimming pool and all other places! It is a tiring walk up slope for me and so I would prefer to call for their shuttle since it is free of charge too anyway.

Groupon Review: Orchard Cafe International Buffet Dinner

Went to the Orchard Hotel for my graduation dinner with my family and also to celebrate both my mum and sis birthday. The Groupon was priced at $58 per pax with drinks (coffee/tea/ice water) as it was a Friday which I thought was pretty reasonable for the buffet spread and environment!

We were greeted very politely at the door upon presenting our Groupon. We made a booking at 7.30 pm but arrived at 6.30 pm which they still kindly guided us to our seats without giving any black faces! The area is neat and tidy and seats are well spaced.

Entrance of the cafe

They have a wide variety of food to choose from. From cold dishes like the above, to sushi and sashimi and also lots of cooked food like braised pork ,chili crab, fried fish and many more! They also had a station where they serve the BBQ and grilled food like most international buffet like Todai do and also had a station for chicken/roast pork/duck rice to be served. Below are some images that I managed to capture on the spread before I got too engrossed in eating.

Cold dishes
Salad Bar
Their seafood are worth a mention as they are really fresh and absolutely delectable! From the mussels to prawns to snow crab leg, they are all so well done that out of probably 5 plates of seafood I had, none was hard and dry and it was all juicy and chewy. (Holiday Inn buffet serves better prawns though! The prawns here didn't had their bowel done before arriving to this hotel apparently, if you got what I mean) Still, I love the way the cut up the snow crab leg which made life so much easier for us! Especially when places that serves good and full snow crab legs are hard to come by.
Seafood
Wide range of dessert selection from cakes to biscuits to ice cream and also tarts and fruits. The ice cream wasn't marvellous and so I didn't had a photo of it. The cakes are quite well done, soft and fluffy with a wide range of selection but would really prefer the Holiday Inn one most! They have pretty nicely cut up mango that you can get from the chef as well which I would love to share the image but I can't since I hadn't learn how to upload photo from my Samsung NX mini. (Oops)

I would definitely come back here again if I ever want to have a seafood buffet dinner. The staff are really friendly and prompt in topping up your water and clearing your plates. I would say the food variety and everything here is almost comparable to Todai at an almost similar price range without Groupon.
